The alternative medical chapter of SAPP will be hosting Genifer Murray, the CEO and founder of CannLabs. Mrs. Murray will be discussing the use of medical marijuana for patient treatment, current scientific research into the area, opportunities in the medical marijuana industry, and more. Genifer Murray is also opening internship positions for CU students. Free food will be provided in Hellems 267 on Tuesday, February 18, 5:30-7:30pm to find out more about position!


• CENTER FOR GAIT AND MOVEMENT ANALYSIS SUMMER INTERNSHIP
• DESCRIPTION: Each year, the Center for Gait and Movement Analysis (CGMA) and the Musculoskeletal Research Center (MRC) of Children's Hospital Colorado (CHCO) offer summer internship positions to undergraduates or recent college graduates. Chosen applicants will participate in a 10 week internship, consisting of research activity and shadowing opportunities within the orthopaedics department, which may take place in the operating room or in a clinic setting. If interested, it may be possible to make arrangements to shadow clinicians in other disciplines, though this cannot be guaranteed. The internship will begin in early summer and a modest stipend will be provided. Summer interns will be assigned to active protocols based on background experience and faculty need.
• The state of the art facilities at CGMA provide accurate measurements of human movement and muscle activity that are essential to the study of complex musculoskeletal disorders and motion abnormalities. Primary areas of research center on cerebral palsy and other neuromuscular pathologies that negatively affect ambulation in children and adults. The MRC was founded in 2006 to provide the infrastructure necessary to facilitate the research of medical and orthopaedic surgical interventions for children with musculoskeletal and neuromuscular disorders. Areas of research interests include role of genetics in musculoskeletal disorders, sports medicine, spinal deformities, and hip pathologies. Collaborative efforts between CGMA, MRC, the Orthopaedic Department and the Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Department allow expanded access to a diverse array of research interests and patient conditions.
• RESEARCH ACTIVITIES: Interns can expect to help and assist clinicians, physical therapists, kinesiologists, engineers, and researchers with current research projects. Research activities include gathering information for pediatric orthopaedic and gait research, performing literature reviews, chart reviews, data collection, reviewing of patient records for research information, data entry, and help with submissions of research protocols to review boards.
• QUALIFICATIONS: Proficiency in writing and use of Microsoft Office as well as a general understanding of musculoskeletal anatomy and physiology. Any research experience is preferred but not required.
• APPLICATION: Applicants will need to submit three documents: Cover letter, resume, and One paragraph describing your interest in orthopaedics, specifically this internship, and how this opportunity fits into long-term goals and plans (250 word limit)
• Please include in that essay your top TWO programs of interest from the following: CGMA, spinal deformities, hip pathologies, and sports medicine as well as a brief timeline of future plans, including applying to professional/graduate school, and the year of matriculation for the earliest time you might be prepared to accept an offer for a seat in professional school.

• SUMMER MEDICAL DENTAL EDUCATION PROGRAM NOW ACCEPTING SUMMER APPLICATIONS!
• SMDEP is a FREE six week academic enrichment program for freshman and sophomore college students who want to become physicians or dentists.
