Pre-MED

SALUD HEALTH INTERNSHIP
• Each intern will begin with the Patient Experience Survey and the Patient Portal project. Both will involve working with patients as they wait for their appointments. You will be asked to do at least one 4-hour shift, either 8am-12:30pm or 12:30pm-5pm, M-F per week. Moderate competency in Spanish is desired, although it may be possible to team up with another student who has greater Spanish skills.
• The idea is to create a team of students who will be invested in helping Salud health clinics improve patient care in a variety of ways. It is a wonderful chance to see close-up how complex and rewarding care to under-served populations can be. The next projects will include working in the Comprehensive Care program, on the Mobile Unit, and participating in group medical visits, all with an evaluation component. There will also be opportunities to do data analysis on the various projects.
• If you are interested, please email Penny Bennett at penny.bennett@colorado.edu. An application and interview will be required, and if selected, you will do HIPPA, etc, trainings online, and project trainings on campus. We will also ask for documentation of common vaccinations. Details will be provided with your application.
• This is a great way to get a ton of hours required for medical school application process if that is your desired avenue post-graduation!
