Post-spring 2014 Graduation Career Opportunities

• RESEARCH ASSISTANT, CHILDREN'S HOSPITAL CU SPORTS MEDICINE DEPT, ANSCHUTZ MEDICAL CAMPUS for SPRING 2014 or RECENT GRADUATES
• PROGRAM OVERVIEW: The Sports Medicine Program for Young Athletes at Children's Hospital Colorado in Aurora, Colorado will be filling a full-time Research Assistant position starting late June, early July. The position is intended for recent graduates who are interested in Sports Medicine, preferably have some prior involvement in research, and are looking for research and clinical experience in preparation for a professional career in the medical field.
• The MRC was founded in 2006 to provide a program within the Orthopedic Institute (OI) that promotes the academic and professional development of OI faculty and research staff by fostering exemplary clinical research in pediatric orthopaedics. Areas of research interests include role of genetics in musculoskeletal disorders, sports medicine, spinal deformities, and hip pathologies. Collaborative efforts between the Center for Gait and Movement Analysis (CGMA), MRC, the Orthopaedic Department and the Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Department allow expanded access to a diverse array of research interests and patient conditions.
DESCRIPTION OF RESEARCH ACTIVITIES: Research assistants are expected to coordinate physicians and other members of the sports medicine program to design, implement, and disseminate clinical research. Research activities may include performing literature reviews, completing institutional review board applications, chart reviews, consenting patients, conducting research visits for data collection, review of patient records, data entry, presenting findings at local and national meetings, and writing manuscripts. Research collaboration with other specialties is very common.
QUALIFICATIONS: All candidates must have an undergraduate degree, or must be expecting to receive one in the spring of 2014. Proficiency in writing and use of Microsoft Office as well as a general understanding of musculoskeletal anatomy and physiology is expected. Research experience is preferred but not required.
COMMITMENT: All candidates must be able to commit to at least two full years in the position before beginning professional school.

THE FULLBRIGHT PROGRAM
• What: The U.S. government’s flagship program for international educational exchange (CU-Boulder is a top producing campus for U.S. Student Fulbright grants)
• When: Monday February 3 or Wednesday March 12, 3-4pm
• Where: Center for Community room S350
• Why: Come to an information meeting to learn how you can apply for a Fulbright grant to do overseas study/research or to be an English teaching assistant overseas. These grants are for U.S. citizens who will have at least a bachelor's degree at the time the grant starts and who won’t have completed a PhD by the Fulbright application deadline. The CU-Boulder student deadline for applying for a 2015-2016 U.S. Student Fulbright Grant is Sept. 8, 2014.
