STUDY ABROAD SPOTLIGHT

GLOBAL SEMINAR ART IN SPAIN, May 29 – July 4, 2013

• 6 elective credits in upper level Art & Art History — both studio and art history credits are approved
• 2.5 GPA required (or with instructors permission)
• Students stay in shared apartments in Madrid and in a hotel in Barcelona
• COST approx. $6,500 (currently working on lowering price considerably) — includes tuition, lodging, program travel in Madrid, Granada, Barcelona, Monserrat & Figueras.
• Students pay airfare and food
• Scholarships available from UROP/SURF (max: $2400 and Study Abroad (need based $600-1000), & several other departmental funding sources
• Global Insurance through Aug. 31st 2013, wherever you are in the world
• Course Content covers some architecture, painting, sculpture, photography, film, performance & installation, dance — flamenco — and an optional bullfight (not included in the course fee);
• 2 courses: From Goya to 1900, and From 1900 to the present in 5 weeks
• Academic & Creative assignments offered; research paper or visual projects due Sept. 1; visual projects can be multimodal in nature: film, video, photo essay or drawings/paintings accompanied by a paper. Topic would need to interface with course material: Spain and its culture, global and local.
• Recent graduates in any major welcome!
• Rolling admission till March 1, 2014 or until course fills: 10(-12) students total
